Our life-focused curriculum is reinforced with positive coaching, accountability, and sensitivity. Our efforts in the Oak Park neighborhood to use the skills we learn to help residents, non-profits, and micro businesses.  About Us

About SHOP CLASS

Community Shop Class, a non-profit 501(C)3, is designed as a Neighborhood Learning Center.
This is a place to learn and create, teach and build.
Our programs + projects expand access to trades work and job development for neurodivergent, women, youth, and gender-expansive people;
We celebrate those who create and build things that help our community.
 
The purpose is to be a good neighbor in every way possible.

Serving Our Oak Park Community Since 2021

We have an incredible shop filled with tools and inspiration. We are currently developing + IMPLEMENTING programs designed to give Oak Park aCCESS TO the basics of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical SKILLS.

OUR WORK  FOCUSES ON LEARNING about sustainability, safety, INCLUSION, and NEURO-DIVERSITY.

Tool Library access

You Get Access to Our Entire Tool Library; For The Whole Month!

Access to make your project in our space, instead of your living room or porch. Not to mention Co-working space, Wi-fi, Snacks and Coffee for you to enjoy anywhere on-site during Shop Hours. Join as a member to get the benefits and become apart of the community!

Workforce training

Inquire about our apprenticeship programs, community partners, and job resources if you would like guidance from our on-site Leadership members.

We participate in internships, programs, e-bike courses, tool trainings, and basic car care.

Safe and neurodivergent

Here we focus on creating and enviroment where learning thrives, our space, programs, and classes are all designed with neurodivergent and diverse types of learners can come together and reach better understandings about how we all learn differently.

community services

We are a water station, phone charging station, small business supporter + collaborator; WE offer our services to support local businesses and families.

We fix tool handles, build commercial planter boxes, and community gardens all the way to pergolas, and more…

TAKE A CLASS

Take a class with one of our dedicated and knowledgeable instructors. We have a selection of free and paid classes every month, and accept community members into our paid internships and programs. Stay tuned in to the opportunities page for updates!

HOST YOUR OWN EVENT

We host everything from Corporate Team Builders, Girl Scout Troops, Americorps Classes to Open Mics, Live Music, Birthday parties, and Career Fairs.

The Guild is open to anyone; all we ask is that you are accepting, kind, and supportive of our diverse community members. We believe in good-neighborism, and that creativity equals problem solving. Through this philosophy we have built a thriving local collective. Please join us for learning, mentorship, and communal growth.
